Review: Revlon Photoready Bronzer

Hey guys! Today let's take a quick look at Revlon's Photoready Bronzer in Bronzed and Chic. This bronzer is one of the few matte bronzers in the drugstore. Most bronzers in the drugstore seem to carry between a lot of shimmer to actual chunks of glitter.

This bronzer was priced at $6.99 at my local drugstore. This bronzer is definitely reliable. When I say reliable, I mean that you are going to get the same constant results. What I mean by that is that you can apply this product and know that it is going to apply safely and not do anything unusual, like move around, rub off or cause blemishes.

The packaging on this bronzer is unique. You don't get the typical circular compact that comes with blushes and powders. This is a product in a rectangular package that is in a circular pan. Confusing right? Well, you get a product that is divided into 4 shades of bronzing powder ranging from light matte brown to darker matte brown.

The divisions between the lighter, medium and darker powders are in large enough sections that is no trouble to get a larger angled brush into an individual shade. I prefer to apply this shade by simply swirling all the shades together to get an overall brown shade. In my opinion, this shade isn't quite dark enough to use as a solid contouring product, but it is perfect to give the face a sunlit glow.

This is a wonderful shelf product, but it is definitely not a travel friendly package. The overall, glow is more orange than deep brown. For this reason, I again think more sunlit highlight than contour application.

Overall, a beautiful product that is wonderful for a simple day out or for a touch of bronze on a spring day!

Elf Cosmetics Matte Lip Color Review

Hey guys! Thanks for checking out my blog! Today we will be taking a look at Elf Cosmetics Matte Lip Colors!

The packaging on these products is unusual. You get a twist up pencil, that is tapered into a marker shape. The product definitely takes longer to apply because you have to cover more area with a smaller applicator. The packaging is completely travel friendly and fits easily in your bag. It has that shape that you can find easily when you are blindly rummaging through your bag. You get your shade color identified in a ring around the bottom edge.

Natural
The lip products that I picked up where very pigmented. I picked up two shades that I am absolutely in love with. They were very affordable at only $3 per lipstick. The first shade I snagged off the very bare shelf, (these new products were being picked up fast!) was "Natural."

Natural
I found that this shade is my favorite of the two that I picked up. This shade is more on the pink side, and I think that this shade falls more aptly under the category, "my lips but better." This shade is very much like the L'oreal lipstick shade Fairest Nude. It gives coverage on the lips to even out discoloration but this shade is not very noticeable, which is what I like about it.  It is the perfect shade to wear with absolutely anything.

The second shade I bought, Nearly Nude, is a lip color that literally erases my lips. It is the shade that is a true nude. This color is actually smoother than Natural, but Nearly Nude shade is overall harder to wear. I find that this shade enhances the lines and cracks on the lips and actually doesn't last particularly long. It almost gives an orange edge to the nude.

Review: Pixi Correction Concentrate

Hey guys!
Today we are going to take a look at one of my personal favorites! This is the Pixi Correction Concentrate, in Brightening Peach.

This corrector is priced at $12.00. This product claims that this corrector is: “Highly pigmented, this correction concealer instantly erases darkness, softens and blurs lines. Skin immediately looks fresh, rested, bright and youthful. This ultimate 'good night's sleep in a jar' camouflage cream is correction perfection in a pot.” –Pixi website.
In my opinion, this product completely lives up to its claims. I use this corrector every day as an under eye concealer before I put on my foundation.  This erases the darkness under my eyes and provides a wonderful base for my foundation to simply glide on. The formula of this concealer is thicker and that is why I think this corrector works so well. I find that this product performs best with medium to full coverage foundations rather than thin BB Creams or tinted moisturizers because the peach shade can sometimes show through thin tints.
This product contains Rose Hip Extract, Vitamins A, C, and E.  The Pixi website encourages you to apply this product in three dots beneath the eye and blend out evenly. They also suggest that you blend over the lid to correct all discoloration.
I like to use the Sigma Precision- Flat P80 brush, which has a blunt tip and can blend the corrector in small circular motions. This gives a smoother application.

Maybelline Color Tattoos

Hey guys!
Today let’s check out the Maybelline Color Tattoos. I know these were released quite a while ago and they now have come out with shades in the “leather” category but sometimes it’s nice to look back through your collection and remember some of the those products that you used to love, or are still loving!
This quick review might inspire you to go out and grab a couple shades you have been looking at for a while, or a shade that sparks interest.
These shades have absolutely amazing color payoff. The pigments that some of these shades have are long-lasting and creamy. The textures of the shadows that have a hint of shimmer seem to be a bit more creamy and easy to apply and blend.

Inked in Pink: This is a lighter shade that is super creamy and gives a lighter payoff than originally shown in the pot. The pink shine is very neutral and only appears deeper when the light catches it. However, the pigment still is wonderful and the texture is smooth.

Pomegranate Punk: This is a deeper shade that is beautiful when applied in the crease or under the lower lashes. The color is more along the lines of marsala than purple. This shade is a mixture of plum and berry elements combined. There is an underlying tone of gold and silver shimmer that doesn’t show up on the lid but is beautiful in a swatch.

Electric Blue: I have to say this is my favorite shade but also the hardest to wear, in my opinion.  The shade captures the generic blue idea and gives it a bit of an edge by adding a pinch of silver shimmer. This is my favorite shade to wear during the summer.

Barely Branded:  This shade has a brightening aspect with a peachy orange undertone. It almost acts as a correcting primer, because it evens out the discoloration on my lids. The only different part is that this shade too, holds a shimmer element. Unfortunately I don’t prefer this shade because it is too sparkly and comes off flakey on the eye.

Bad to the Bronze: This is your classic brown/ gold shadow. This creamy shade has the prettiest golden undertone. It almost gives off a copper tone. When I take a swatch it reminds me of the Urban Decay, “Smog.”

Nude Pink: Here you have a matte pink that is even more understated than the other shade, “Inked in Pink.” This shade is dry. It is pasty and it doesn’t do much for me. I find that this shade works under other more pigmented eye shadows in powder form to prevent creases but as a stand alone shade, it doesn’t quite cut it.

Tough as Taupe: This color is a bit dry and you can see that where the dry crack lines the rim of the pot. You can fix this by using a toothpick to mix and then press the cream. If you do this, you might be able to save your shadow and get back the original pay off.

You can wear these colors all over the lid or even pull them off as a liner, using a small angled brush. These colors are great for in the summer and even last in the water- as long as you don’t intentionally wipe them away.

Overall, these are a pretty safe buy. They won't let you down and the product lasts a long time. Being aware that the matte shades can be testing, but that all the above shades are very pigmented, you might have yourself a treasure.

Thanks for reading and I hope that this was helpful! Come back for makeup, beauty and more!
